My name is Darren Tietsworth.  Born and raised in New Jersey, I am a 1st generation real estate investor (and Realtor).  My interest in real estate development and investing started in 2001 after a conversation with a mentor who, at the time, was a successful entrepreneur and real estate investor himself.  He helped me understand the power of wealth-building and passive income by using rental income, jokingly known as "Other People's Money" , to help fund real estate investments while amassing equity.  I graduated Rider University in 1990 with a Master's Degree in Business Administration where I worked as a research assistant for the Economics Department Chairperson.  During this period, I helped publish several research papers including one which analyzed the Mercer County, New Jersey real estate market.

Over the past two decades, I've developed a passion for real estate investing, including the financial models, a flare for real estate development and a good eye for tenants and contractors.  All of these and quite a bit more are the key ingredients to a successful venture into the world of real estate investing.

One important lesson I've learned along the way is that to be a successful real estate investor, you absolutely need to have focus and deep knowledge of the market, which is why I am exclusively focused on two New Jersey markets - the Jersey Shore market of coastal Monmouth and Ocean Counties as well as the northern New Jersey tri-county area of Western Union, Northern Somerset and Southern Morris Counties.  These are markets I have studied, invested in and know well - I am exclusively focused on them.  If you need help in other areas, I'd be happy to refer you, but I would not be able to assist you directly.

I "retired" from my corporate career in July 2023 after having spent more than three decades as a Information Technology (IT) Technical Consultant and the past 20 years as a highly successful IT Sales Professional with Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Amazon Web Services.  During this phase of my career, I developed deep skills in website development, web server management and search engine optimization.  I've also been a highly successful IT account executive winning numerous sales achievement awards including HP's highly-coveted President's Club Award.  With this expertise, I am making myself available on a contract basis as a website/digital marketing consultant or to provide sales coaching and training for individuals and small teams.  To learn more about my freelance services, click here.

Starting with the Fall 2023 Semester, I began teaching several Computer Science courses at Ocean County College as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).  I look forward to sharing my passion for technology with a new generation of technology enthusiasts.
